30 Day Spring Cleaning Challenge!
I've been completely inspired by this Spring Cleaning Challenge, even though I'm the one putting it on! I'm pleasantly surprised...and I'm pretty sure my husband is, too. I'm right here with you, digging in and clearing out!
Today's challenge is to Clear One Counter, and, as always, if this doesn't speak to you, choose your own One Thing to do that will make today better and brighter...
When I say "clear one counter," I don't just mean take everything and move it somewhere else :)
I mean choose one space, make decisions about every single thing in or on that space, then do what's needed to feel really great about that one space.
It helps to have these things handy before beginning: trash, recycling, damp cloth, vacuum cleaner, and a "take elsewhere container," where you put everything that needs to go elsewhere. Using this keeps you from leaving the area - very important!
If it's an area that might have things to donate, get a donation container handy before beginning.
I like to start in one corner and work my way along, making decisions about each item I come across. This way it's easy to see where I ended and I can clean as I go.
Here's a time lapse video of me clearing one side of my desk - I move really fast! This really did only take me about 15 minutes - so much less time than I thought it would.
At one point I sit down and go through papers - I have recycling and garbage bins under my desk, so tossed what I didn't need first. Then I combined to do lists and put that on the top of my Must Do papers next to my computer to start with tomorrow.
Let me know how your Spring Cleaning is going!
Happy Organizing!
