30 Day Spring Cleaning Challenge!
Today is the day to go through mystery containers in the refrigerator and either lose them or label them.
April's TidyWild Member organizing lesson is Life Begins in the Kitchen, with aaaallll my tips on kitchen organizing in connection with setting health and life goals, but today we'll keep it simple and focus on leftovers!
Here's what I recommend:
Take all mystery and unmarked leftover containers out of the fridge and freezer.
Put on your Honesty Pants
Toss any that are freezer burned or that you aren't actually going to eat
Label ones you're going to keep (see tips below).
Here are a couple options for labeling - let me know if you have a method that works for you!
NOTE: for labels to stick to containers, they need to be room temperature and dry, so give them a good wipe down with a cloth before putting labels on if you can.
Masking Tape
I use masking tape just for leftovers I put in my freezer because I've (finally) gotten good at using up leftovers in my fridge.
As soon as I put something in a container that's going into the freezer, I put a piece of masking tape on with the contents written on it with a black sharpie. This works for the fridge, too, of course.
I keep a roll of masking tape and sharpie pens right next to the refrigerator specifically for this purpose...

Sticky Notes
Sarah uses small sticky notes for leftovers in her fridge, "because I like all the colors!"
She keeps her sticky's and pen in a container mounted on the side of a cupboard in her kitchen. Sticky notes may not stick as well in the freezer, but they're great for the fridge and super easy to use!

What do you use to keep track of your leftovers? Does it work? Are you going to try one of these methods?
Happy Organizing! As always, if this One Thing doesn't jive for you, choose your own One Thing you can do today to make this spring day brighter and better :)
