Declutter Paper Piles
How to manage paper clutter one pile at a time... Raise your hand if you feel like papers are breeding when you're not looking! You're not alone - thousands of papers come into our hands each year, so it's easy for them to take over if we're not diligent about managing them. Add in backlogs that build up when we deal with disease, depression or a loved one passing, and it can feel like we're drowning (I know, I've been there!) To clear all the papers can seem like a huge, ove

Day 11: Stand-up Shoes
30 Day Spring Cleaning Challenge! Today is the day to free the shoes and turn boots into stand up citizens! Gather aaaallll of your shoes together for a little shoe party (or maybe it's a big party!) and put your Honesty Pants on to look through them. If you have a lot of shoes, put categories or colors together (dress shoes, boots, etc.), then ask your Self: do I love these? Do I wear these? Do I want these? Try them on with outfits if needed, walk around the house in them,

Day 10: Leftover Love
30 Day Spring Cleaning Challenge! Today is the day to go through mystery containers in the refrigerator and either lose them or label them. April's TidyWild Member organizing lesson is Life Begins in the Kitchen, with aaaallll my tips on kitchen organizing in connection with setting health and life goals, but today we'll keep it simple and focus on leftovers! Here's what I recommend: Take all mystery and unmarked leftover containers out of the fridge and freezer. Put on your

Day 9: Hanging Clothes
30 day Spring Cleaning Challenge! My Mum's closet I did this with my Mum yesterday and we were both amazed at how quickly it went! I've done this with countless clients and friends and it works like magic when you cut through the mental chatter and just do it... Here's what I recommend: 1 - Imagine what you want to feel like when you go out into the world, then picture what colors, styles and textures you're wearing. 2 - Clear off your bed 3 - Take alllll the hanging clothes

Do you have shopping bags are pouring out of ever

Day 6: Clear One Counter
30 Day Spring Cleaning Challenge! I've been completely inspired by this Spring Cleaning Challenge, even though I'm the one putting it on! I'm pleasantly surprised...and I'm pretty sure my husband is, too. I'm right here with you, digging in and clearing out! Today's challenge is to Clear One Counter, and, as always, if this doesn't speak to you, choose your own One Thing to do that will make today better and brighter... When I say "clear one counter," I don't just mean take e

Tips to Reduce Junk Mail
If you're plagued by junk mail, unwanted catalogs and/or donation solicitations, these steps can help! First, I recommend signing up with these organizations to be removed from junk mail lists - I use all of them and love them. www.DMAChoice.org - to get off mailing and email lists. It's $2 very well spent! The United States Postal Service recommends them. Use it every 2-5 years or as junk mail starts to build up again. www.WasteFreeMail.com - use on desktops or they have a

Day 3: Lessen the Lists - Declutter all those Pesky Little Papers
30 Day Spring Cleaning Challenge! If you have a lot of lists around your house, here's how I reduce them and actually get to-dos done. I recommend having a pen and couple big pieces of paper and/or a journal you use regularly. But first, I have an extra challenge for you... It's time to either commit to doing these things or letting them go. Give your Future Self the gift of actually DOING your to-dos. I mean, why spend time making lists if we're not going to DO these things,

A Donation Station Makes it Easy to Declutter Every Day
A simple tip to get unwanted items out of our living spaces. The Donation Station is one of my absolute favorite simple clutter solutions! A Donation Station is a consistent, designated, easy-to-access but out-of-the way place to put things we come across on a daily basis that we don't want-use-need-love. How many times do we walk by, move, touch or look at things we don't want in our homes, garages, cupboards and closets? These items can clutter our physical and mental space

Clear Your Cozy Spot
A few minutes decluttering can bring hours of relaxation I invite you to take time today (or schedule a time) to clear around your favorite place to rest - maybe it's a couch, a bed, the dining room table, the bathtub - anywhere you want to say "aaahhh." First, stand back and look at the space as objectively as possible, as if you were in someone else's shoes. Maybe take a photo - this is a great way to literally see through a different lens. The top two things I suggest ar

The Power of One Thing
The One Thing Happy Life Recipe To walk into a room, step past feeling overwhelmed and choose ONE THING to do RIGHT NOW can be absolutely transformative. And it's not as scary as it might sound. When people reach out to me for help with decluttering and organizing, they often begin with, "I feel so overwhelmed!" and "I don't know where to start!" And when I'm with a client-friend and we walk into a room full of who-knows-what, or we open a closet door and a mish-mash pops out
